Professional: Sherman L. Ragland, II, President/CEO, and Founder of Tradewinds International. He has served as the Project Executive/Project Manager on all Tradewinds' engagements. Since 1990, Tradewinds has assisted several agencies of the Federal Government, the Government of the District of Columbia and a number of private sector clients sell in excess of $60 Billion in commercial real estate, real estate loans, business loans and other intangible assets. Mr. Ragland was the chief architect of the Public Facilities Plan for the Government of the District of Columbia, the basis for all of the District's major real estate decision making since 1990. In 1994, Tradewinds was selected to design and develop the online auction system for the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recognized as the world's first successful online auction.
Prior to forming Tradewinds, Mr. Ragland was a Development Project Manager for the Oliver Carr Co. (predecessor to CARRAmerica REIT) where he was responsible for the development of several urban redevelopment projects in the King Street Metro area of the City of Alexandria, including headquarters buildings for: Printing Industries of America, the State Department Federal Credit Union, Regent University and the Association Society for Industrial Security.
Prior to Carr, he was an Associate Development Director and the CFO for Lansdowne,VA, a 2,300-acre mixed-use development of Xerox Realty Corporation located near Dulles Airport and Leesburg, Virginia.
He is a Full Member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI - Small Scale Gold) and a former Planning Commissioner and Vice Chairman of the Board of Zoning Appeals for the City of Alexandria, Virginia.
