James R. Ladd
Managing Director - Financial Advisory & Asset Sales

Professional: Mr. Ladd has over 15 years of experience as an investment banker. He is a licensed securities and commercial real estate broker, who has spent the majority of his career attempting to create efficiencies for both buyers and sellers of investment real estate. He has served as financial advisor to the RTC, HUD, SBA, and several major private sector clients in the sale of over $15 Billion in assets.

Mr. Ladd helped pioneer the use of optimization technology to sell large portfolios of loans backed by real estate. This innovative approach maximizes proceeds by allowing all types of bidders to participate. Previously large portfolios of assets or loans were sold only in pre--arranged pools to a few large buyers. Mr. Ladd also designed and implemented several innovative structured and securitized transactions of principally non-performing loans backed by real estate, thereby playing a non-insignificant role in the industry's march towards increased standardization and institutional management.

Prior to Tradewinds, Mr. Ladd was a Principal with Whitestone Capital Group, a Vice President with PaineWebber Inc., an Associate Director of Finance at Cushman & Wakefield, Inc., and co-founder and senior banker with the Hamilton Securities Group, Inc.

Early in his career, Mr. Ladd held positions in the Executive Office of the President, the Department of the Treasury, and the General Accounting Office. As a Management Examiner at the Office of Management and Budget, Mr. Ladd oversaw Executive Branch cash and credit management operations. Mr. Ladd assisted in the preparation of the Credit Reform Act of 1990, served as special assistant to the Federal Credit Policy Working Group, and had an extensive role in the OMB sponsored loan asset sale program ($7 billion; sales at several agencies including Agriculture, Veterans Administration, Education, and Interior).
